Diagnostic procedures for assessing organs such as the liver, bone or brain. Radioactive tracers are introduced intravenously and if a malignant tumor or other foreign material is present pictures of the organ will show abnormalities that may indicate the presence of a tumor. There is no significant risk with this small, brief radiation exposure.
